Old School Routines

Bodybuilding has evolved over the years. Technology, science, and medicine have had a large impact on this popular past time. It is not surprising to see tons of commercials promoting the latest supplements and weightlifting routine programs.

Supplements play a great role in muscle development, but one must be involved in die hard weightlifting routines in order to get significant results within a reasonable amount of time. Some bodybuilding legends feel that the latest bodybuilding routines are not as effective as the routines that were implemented in the past. Weightlifting routines from the past are known to be responsible for creating legends such as John Grimek, Reg Park, Steve Reeves and even Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Here is a sample old school bodybuilding routine that should not be underestimated:

Front Squats - 5 sets of 5 reps
Regular Squats - 5 sets of 5 reps
Bench Press or Dips - 5 sets of 5 reps
Barbell Rows or Chin-Ups - 5 sets of 5 reps
Standing Press - 5 sets of 5 reps
Barbell Curls - 3 sets of 8 reps
Tricep Extentions - 3 sets of 8 reps
Calve Raises - 3 sets of 15 to 20 reps

Rest 2 minutes between sets.

Do this workout 3 days a week with at least 1 rest day between workouts, for example Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
